My Blog Ulterior Motives

California Dreaming

Just finished up an interesting two weeks, and wanted to reflect.

First, I helped manage Charlotte Uber operations during the Democratic National Convention. We sourced partnerships with drivers in the area, and got them on the Uber system for the week. The work was tough, and it was in the trenches. Uber is successful because of the perceived simplicity, but there’s obviously a million moving parts, and seeing a different aspect of the business was definitely a learning experience and important for my career. Nothing but love for our Driver Operations Managers all over the world who work their asses off to ensure you have quality transportation when you need it.

Then, it was Tahoe. Uber employees from across the country met for a celebratory vacation this past weekend. Lake Tahoe is an amazingly beautiful place, and I absolutely recommend it. I’ve been at Uber over a year (even though it seems like yesterday), and to see this company grow around me is mind blowing. The Uber team is filled with innovators and some of the most motivated and intelligent individuals I’ve ever been around. It makes it easy to get jacked up about more work while also never being satisfied with the current state of affairs.

Anything in life is possible. When I look around Tahoe, and reflect on a year with Uber, I know that I’ve gotten this success on my own two feet, and I feel blessed about some of the decisions I’ve made. I really wish this feeling for everyone in my life.

For anyone who’s dissatisfied with their current situation (whatever it may be), you have to stay hungry, and you have to put yourself out there. The negatives of putting yourself out there and failing, are far out weighed by the feeling of satisfaction in your life when you succeed. There are people in the world that will mentor your success, and it’s your responsibility to seek them out.

To everyone who’s helped me get to this point (and it’s everyone in my life), the gratitude could never be expressed with words.

It’s only the beginning.
